I have been looking into a new pair of headphones from Bose a couple weeks ago. Maybe less than a couple weeks ago.
Anyway, they are the latest from this year 2023. This is the Bose QC Ultra.
They have a new control for the volume, improved sound and new connection for charging. It uses the USB-C connection. I love this! It makes is so much easier to put in the cable.
The volume control is no longer a button. It is a raised strip on the right ear cup. You just slide your finger up or down to adjust the loudness. I love this too.
The sound is mind-blowing. Very mind-blowing. You have an EQ and different sound modes. Quiet, Aware, and Immersion. I tried all three. The Quiet seems to be similar to the Immersion. Aware, well it’s obvious. You can hear your surroundings in addition to your music or movie. Immersion is what I use often. It is amazing! It’s like having a home theater set in your ears.
You also have Custom, where you can add your own sound mode. It lets you adjust the Noise Cancelling level.
In Immersion mode, you have three settings : Off, Still, and Motion. In Still mode, when you turn your head to either side, the music plays in that ear, then gradually comes to the front. Wow!! Why does this happen? It’s really awesome. When it comes to the front, it’s like having stereo speakers out in front of you.
Motion is when you are moving around. The sound will be as if it is heard in different areas of the room. It responds faster to your head movement it seems.
I am enjoying my headphones very much. I like them more than my QC 35’s. I still have those, and use them with another PC. I was going to sell them, but I guess I put them into good use. I’ve had them since 2017.
Anyway. The EQ on the QC Ultra is very basic, with just bass, mid and treble, with preset options : Bass Boost, Bass Reducer, Treble Boost, Treble Reducer.
I haven’t used the presets. I like playing with the EQ levels myself. Here is a picture of the headphones.
They look really cool. I like how they aren’t completely black. They are black with some gray and silver.
Oh, one last feature is the fact that they have Auto Off mode. When you take off the headphones and put them down, they will turn off after 10 minutes by default.
You can change that in the settings. You can put them to turn off as late as 24 hours. But if that’s the case, you would need to use the Bluetooth/Power button to turn it on again.
I think I have gone through all the features of these headphones. I’d recommend them to you. If you have an older pair of headphones, keep them. They may come in handy! Unless they’re worn out to the point where it can no longer be used of course.
Happy listening!
